She has inspired her caretakers and supporters with her determination to reclaim her mobility.
Last July at an outdoor picnic, in her own backyard, one tiny mosquito bit Nancy and changed her life. After suffering several days from flu-like symptoms, Nancy was hospitalized and sank into a three-day coma. As her body functions began to shut down, her survival was at risk.

When Nancy awoke from her coma, she was unable to speak or move at all. Through rigorous physical, occupational and speech therapies, she has now regained her ability to talk, move her head and eat with assistance.

Nancy and her husband are facing considerable financial burdens. Their insurance benefits are exhausted and the costs for 24/7 care, together with rehab therapies, are daunting. We are committed to helping them out financially.
